Edison International Scholarship 2017
College Scholarships for Students in Science, Technology, Engineering & Math (STEM)
Through our $1.2 million Edison Scholars Program, we’re helping high school seniors with a passion for science, technology, engineering or math (STEM) achieve their academic goals.
Edison Scholars is designed to help minority, low-income and under-represented students in our service area pay for college studies in STEM fields, helping them develop skills and knowledge they need to thrive in the workforce of the future.
Since 2006, we have financially supported 550 students’ higher education by giving out nearly $6.5 million in scholarships.
Applications are accepted online from December 1, 2016 to February 1, 2017. You must meet all eligibility requirements to qualify. Scholarships are paid for by our shareholders, and not by customers of our utility, Southern California Edison (SCE).
To qualify, you must be a high school senior planning to pursue science, technology, engineering or math (STEM) at a four-year college or university on a full-time basis.
Additional eligibility requirements:
- Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Live or attend a high school in SCE’s service area or attend an eligible high school surrounding SCE’s San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station
- Plan to major in any of these STEM fields: mathematics, engineering, computer and information services, management information systems, natural resources and conservation or physical sciences
- Demonstrate financial need
How to Apply
We’re looking to award $40,000 scholarships, paid over four years, to 30 high school students planning to major in STEM fields at four-year colleges and universities. As Edison Scholars, the students may also be eligible for summer internships at Edison after completing their second year in college.
