Cardiff University PhD Studentship 2016
PhD Studentship in Electrical Engineering 2016: Rapid Identification of Broadband and Efficient PA Modes (PhD Studentship). This is a fully-funded research project, which provides an exciting opportunity in the area of RF (radio frequency) and HF (high frequency) power amplifier design with very strong multinational industry collaborations.
Futurewei Technologies (a wholly-owned subsidiary of Huawei North America) and Cardiff University will cooperate on the investigation of broadband and efficient PA Modes. The main goal of this project is to gain an understanding of the theoretical device/transistor limitations at RF/HF when it comes to the bandwidth/frequency tradeoffs as an enabler for future wireless communication systems (e.g. 5G to be introduced around 2020).
The collaboration will also include National Instruments utilising their hardware and software solutions. The resulting RF nonlinear measurement and modelling demonstrator will allow shorter characterisation/investigation times of RF devices (transistors) and RF PA (power amplifiers) by up several orders of magnitude.
